Job Purpose:

To lead all Mechanical/HVAC Engineering activities and deliverables for the project and ensure timely completion to the required quality standards.

General Description:
Take the lead role in the Mechanical/HVAC engineering activities and directly reporting to Engineering Manager with the major responsibilities as followings:

  • Ensure that all legislative requirements relating to offshore facilities in Vietnam are complied with in respect to all aspects of Mechanical/HVAC are correctly implemented.
  • Provide skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients’ needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Execute and oversee Mechanical/HVAC engineering activities for Project within designated Cost Time & Resource (CTR) scopes, which may include engineering support to Procurement, design calculations, specifications, datasheets, MR, material take off, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions. Identify and resolve process issues which are critical for project objective, schedule and cost.
  • Must be able to lead and give direction to a team of engineers and designers/draftsman to generate or work on discipline deliverables and drawings. Supervises the work of senior engineers, mechanical engineers and designers/draftsman. Performs Inter-discipline & discipline QA/QC and engineering compliance checks on all work performed by engineers within the group.
  • Take the lead in preparation of requisition packages for the purchase of long lead equipment and packaged items associated with a minimum facilities platform.
  • Co-ordinate with other technical disciplines to provide responses to complex problems related to mechanical design, reliability operability and availability, integrity, instrumentation and control, emissions, rotating equipment, static equipment, etc. Provides technical advice (mechanical) to engineers from other disciplines.
  • Review vendor data and ensure that the equipment and packages supplied comply with company requirements as defined in the purchase documents, if required.
  • Ensure that all Mechanical/HVAC calculations, equipment sizing, datasheets and specifications are correctly performed and checked before approved for procurement.
  • Ensure that Mechanical/HVAC equipment specification, design and vendor selection consider operability and maintainability to meet the production availability targets. Liaise with the Operation team on maintenance aspects of the design.
  • Prepare schedules covering his works when required by project controls section.
  • Responsible for the training and development of engineers in his/her section.

Qualifications and Work Experience required:

Qualification:
The jobholder should hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree.

Experience & Requirements:

  • A minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas industry particularly offshore sector.
  • A minimum 5 years as Lead Mechanical Engineer. Has been in the Lead Mechanical Engineer in a successful project from FEED/Detailed Design and Installation of CPP.
  • Deep knowledge of machinery and equipment applicable to offshore facilities including as a minimum compressors, generators, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, HVAC system.
  • Deep understanding of applicable Codes, Standards and certification requirements for equipment, piping and offshore facilities, particularly relating to safety of design.
  • Broad experience of mechanical equipment, installation, operation, testing and commissioning.
  • Good understanding of offshore oil and gas safety, particularly relating to machinery and equipment. A broad understanding of other aspects of facilities including process, instrumentation and structure as they relate to the Mechanical/HVAC equipment.
  • Computer skill: Office software, PV Elite, HVAC design/calculation software, other mechanical design software.
  • Technical support of purchasing activities after purchase order issuance, including vendor data review, attending FAT as necessary.
  • Good communication and effectively in the English language (written and oral)
  • Tolerance for stressful and family separation/ disorder situations.
  • Good computer skills with MS Office, specialized software.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
