Job Purpose:

Providing day-to-day instrument & telecom engineering activities, and report directly to the Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer and/or Engineering Manager.

General Description:
Directly reporting to Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer and/or Engineering Manager with the major responsibilities as followings:

  • Develop Instrument & Telecom Design (Architecture & Block Diagrams, Specifications, Datasheets, MR, Study Reports, Sizing Calculations, Drawings, etc.) in accordance with good industry practice and in compliance with international codes, standards, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Ensure that all instrumentation & telecom design documents, drawings, etc. are correctly performed and checked.
  • Produce deliverables as per project requirement. Provide idea or way out related with instrument & telecom issues, etc. Oversee instrument design activity, raise any issues which affect the quality, schedule or integrity of the design to Engineering Manager / Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer.
  • Ensure alignment with other disciplines on the development of instrument & telecom deliverables. Review and check instrument & telecom deliverables and those from other disciplines where they interface with the instrument & telecom design.
  • Supervise activities of other engineers working on instrumentation design; providing training and guidance for junior engineers.
  • Conduct various studies or initiate the preliminary design to support decision making process as assigned by Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer.
  • IDC coordination with other discipline, weekly reporting drafting progress, discuss the changes, difficulties or issues found in drawings/documents with Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer.
  • Assist the Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer in ensuring that all design input data are complete, clear and fit to use.
  • Assist the Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer in ensuring that the appropriate international codes, regulations, standards, practices and client rules are adhered to, and ensuring good quality design outputs as per relevant procedures.
  • Participate in Safety reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and model reviews where applicable.
  • Implementing other assignments as required by Engineering Manager / Lead Instrument & Telecom Engineer.

Qualifications and Work Experience required:
Qualification

  • The jobholder should hold a Bachelor Degree (or higher) in Control or Electronic Engineering or closely related Engineering of Oil and Gas industry.

Experience & Requirements
The job holder should have the following:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in oil and gas, must have significant instrumentation/control & telecom design experience, including offshore oil or gas production facilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Senior Instrument & Telecom Engineer position for offshore processing platform.
  • Deep knowledge of instrument & telecom systems, system design and equipment specifications applicable to offshore facilities including complex production platforms.
  • A deep understanding of instrumentation safety and related regulations, codes and standards, particularly instrumentation requirements relating to hazardous areas and offshore systems. A broad understanding of other aspects of facilities including process, electrical and safety as they relate to the instrumentation systems.
  • Well conversant with latest International Codes & Standards such as API, ASME, ASTM, NFPA, IEC, ISO, ATEX
  • Familiar with HAZOP, SIL Classification and Verification
  • Familiar with Vietnam Code & Standards such as TCVN, DLVN, QCVN etc.
  • Knowledge of handling section, detail engineering and integration ofcommunications systems required for infield, offshore platform andinterface with control systems, preferably including experience covering design review, procurement and implementation of telecoms equipment.
  • A good command of English both verbal and written.
  • Have ability to organize own work and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
