Job Purpose:

Providing day-to-day Mechanical/HVAC engineering activities, and report directly to the Engineering Manager / Lead Mechanical Engineer.

General Description:
Directly reporting to Engineering Manager / Lead Mechanical Engineer with the major responsibilities as followings:

  • Responsibility shall be for Mechanical Design and Specification of mechanical packages, rotating and static equipment (i.e. compression, pumping, fuel gas treatment, chemical injection, vessels, heat exchangers, air coolers, tanks, HVAC etc.) in accordance with good industry practice and in compliance with international codes, standards, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Ensure that all mechanical specifications, datasheets, calculations, equipment sizing, drawings, etc. are correctly performed and checked before approval for procurement.
  • Produce deliverables as per project requirement. Provide idea or way out related with mechanical issues, etc. Oversee mechanical design activity, raise any issues which affect the quality, schedule or integrity of the design to Engineering Manager / Lead Mechanical Engineer.
  • Review and check mechanical deliverables and those from other disciplines where they interface with the mechanical design.
  • Supervise activities of other engineers working on mechanical design and procurement; providing training and guidance for junior engineers.
  • Review vendor data and ensure that the equipment and packages supplied comply with company requirements as defined in the purchase documents, where applicable.
  • Conduct various calculations or initiate the preliminary design to support decision making process as assigned by Lead Mechanical Engineer.
  • IDC coordination with other discipline, weekly reporting drafting progress, discuss the changes, difficulties or issues found in drawings/documents with Lead Mechanical Engineer.
  • Assist the Lead Mechanical Engineer in ensuring that all design input data are complete, clear and fit to use.
  • Assist the Lead Mechanical Engineer in ensuring that the appropriate international codes,  regulations, standards, practices and client rules are adhered to, and ensuring good quality design outputs as per relevant procedures.
  • Participate in Safety reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and model reviews where applicable.
  • Implementing other assignments as required by Engineering Manager / Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Qualifications and Work Experience required:

Qualification:
The jobholder should hold a Bachelor Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience & Requirements:
The job holder should have the following:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in oil and gas, must have significant mechanical design experience, including offshore oil or gas production facilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Senior Mechanical Engineer position for offshore processing platform.
  • Deep knowledge of machinery and equipment applicable to offshore facilities including as a minimum compressors, generators, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels.
  • Deep understanding of applicable Codes, Standards and certification requirements for equipment, piping and offshore facilities, particularly relating to safety of design.
  • Broad experience of mechanical equipment, installation, operation, testing and commissioning.
  • Good understanding of offshore oil and gas safety, particularly relating to machinery and equipment. A broad understanding of other aspects of facilities including process, instrumentation and structure as they relate to the Mechanical/HVAC equipment.
  • Computer skill: Office software, PV Elite, other mechanical design software.
  • Good communication and effectively in the English language (written and oral)
  • Tolerance for stressful and family separation/ disorder situations.
  • Good computer skills with MS Office, specialized software.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
